I am Carrie. I am a stay at home mom of a toddler and a preschooler. I have been married to my husband for 7 years, and we’ve been together for 17! We are currently 12 years into living in our “starter home,” in the tiny state of Delaware.

I’ve always known that I wanted to be a SAHM, but I never in a million years thought that I would have the opportunity or ability to do it. What started out as the decision to stay home with my son until he turned one, has now turned into 4 1/2 years home with my son, and now 1 1/2 year old daughter (hence the main reason we are still in our starter home). I absolutely LOVE being a SAHM. Even on the really REALLY crazy days when I hate it, I still go to bed every night and wake up every morning thankful that I was given this opportunity, and I don’t want to take a second of it for granted. That being said, spending 24 hours a day meeting the demands of your tiny roommates, can often make you feel that your life is going by in a blur and that no matter how many pictures you take, you still feel like you are the furthest thing from “enjoying every minute.” I already feel like I’ve snapped my fingers and my son is about to turn 5!

So I have started a blog. I wanted a place where I could try to document what tiny bits my frazzled mom brain could put together to help me remember this time in my life, which I know, I will look back on forever as some of the best years of my life. A place where I can share what things we may be cooking, crafting, and learning and a place to vent about all the good and frustrating parts of parenthood. Honestly, I also really wanted a place where I could come into my own again. Being home full time has made it very easy to get swept up in taking care of everybody else and to lose focus of what I want to get out of MY life. As much as I love being a SAHM, I know that this dream can not go on forever. There will come a time when the baby starts full day kindergarten, and it would just not make financial sense for me to sit home all day enjoying the peace and quiet of an empty house. So I thought a blog might be the perfect place to explore what things I truly enjoy, to try new things that push me out of my comfort zone, and to hopefully see what other opportunities are out there, so that when it does come time for me to join the workforce again, it will be doing something that I truly love.

Although I am creating this blog to explore more of MY interests to help ME figure out what’s next, I also want to share with you all the things that I am learning along the way because there are so many resources out there that I am already finding helpful. It’s only natural for us to want to spend our days doing things that make us happy, and to sometimes struggle with how to get there, so who couldn’t use somewhere to turn for a little encouragement and inspiration every once in a while? At the end of the day, we all want to be proud of ourselves, our homes, our marriages, the example we’re setting for our kids. It’s all about finding the balance. Allowing ourselves to pursue and enjoy the truly “happy” aspects of our lives, while trying not be so hard on ourselves through the inevitable “frazzled.”

I’m so glad you found my blog, I’m happy to have you!

It is so important no matter how old you are or how lost in your every day life you get to make every day special and follow your dreams. Good luck with your blog.
