Reading List: Favorite Books of 2018

(and a few duds)

Hello? There is a new blog post, whaaat? I know I don’t pop over here too much, but I hope you know, you can always find me over on instagram and (sometimes) facebook where I share more frequently. It is nice to have the blog to come back to every once in a while though to put some of my goals and thoughts down in print and to give myself a little accountability. Maybe sometimes I’ll even share something that may be of use or inspiration to someone else! Last year I set 18 goals for 2018 and one of...

The 100 Day Project

AHHHH! I am participating in the 100 day project for the first time this year! And I am super excited/nervous/anxious about it! The 100 Day Project “is a free global art project that anyone can participate in.” It is hosted by Elle Luna and Lindsay Jean Thomson, and it is a creative project on Instagram that goes on for, you guessed it, 100 DAYS! This year it starts April 3rd (or you can start any time!). You can read more about it here. Basically it is a project that encourages consistent creativity every day for 100 days. You pick some...

18 for 2018: Setting Goals for the New Year

This post contains affiliate links… Happy New Year!!! I LOVE the start of a new year! Yes, I know we are 2 months in, but sometimes I need the chaos of the holidays (and birthday season in our house), to wind down before I can start looking ahead and figuring out what I want the new year to bring. I love setting new goals and resolutions and just making a fresh start. This time of year always seems to lead me back to writing a new blog post as well (considering that my last post was in February 2017 and...

Happy New Year! Time to re-evaluate last year's goals and resolutions and set some new ones! 4

Happy New Year…ish!

Hi guys! Happy New Year…ish? This blog is not dead! Yeah, so I kind of checked out around Halloween, not really, but looking at the blog it feels that way. I can’t believe I missed out on the funnest blogging season, the holidays! There are so many things/crafts/cookies to post about around the holidays!!! I started the crafts, I made the cookies, I TOOK THE PICTURES! I could barely even get that stuff up on social media, let alone get a full blog post out. Ugh. But tis the season and tis life. Oh well, if I’ve learned anything over...

How to Separate and Roast Pumpkin Seeds

I am so lucky to live in an area of the world that has the pleasure of experiencing all four seasons throughout the year. It is seriously the best. At the start of EVERY new season, I get super excited and want to declare that whichever one it is, is my absolute favorite season, and at the time, I really believe it. Then fall comes along and COME ON! It’s just THE BEST, right??? There are so many amazing things about fall, and all the pumpkin spice stuff doesn’t even make my top 10. That’s how great fall is, it’s...

Our Lake House Vacation and What it Taught Me About Time Management

I can NOT believe that summer is over! It always goes WAY too fast, and this year I have TWO going back to school! I can’t believe it, and because I am in complete denial that my oldest started kindergarten this week(!!!), today’s post will be all about the vacation we took this summer, rather than anything back to school related. At the beginning of August we went on a family vacation to the Poconos and rented a Lake House! Guys, it was pretty awesome. I didn’t realize until we started planning this trip that we had never done a...

DIY Art: Paper Mosaic

Before I get to today’s post, I want to share a few house updates! We are finally making some visible progress around here and it’s not just fixing leaking dishwashers and washing machines, which let’s be honest are necessary, but not exactly fun house projects! My dad and I have finally started PAINTING!!! I have been dying to get started, but I found that trying to choose colors and plan out a color scheme was so overwhelming especially when every.single.room needs to be painted, not to mention all the prep work of spackling and sanding that we have to do...

This corn-bean salsa recipe is fresh and healthy, mixed with tomato, onion, AVOCADO, and more! It's a perfect appetizer to bring along to a bbq or to serve poolside for a great summer snack. 2

Corn-Bean Salsa Recipe for Summer!

I was going to share a DIY art project with you this week, but after making my family’s corn-bean salsa for 3 days in a row over the 4th of July holiday weekend, for 3 different barbeques, I knew that I had to sneak the recipe in here, especially while we are in the prime season for it! I guess I shouldn’t really say that this is my family’s corn-bean salsa, but we make it A LOT. We all bring it to A LOT of barbeques, and we give out the recipe A LOT, so for the sake of sharing...

A Tour of our New House…in all its “before photo” glory!

Hi guys! I am finally back on the blog with a new post! I had always planned on taking some time off to get settled in the new house, but I think getting settled just turned into procrastinating. Procrastinating on the blog AND procrastinating on the getting settled. The lazy days of summer came on hard and fast for me and I haven’t been getting a whole lot done, but WE ARE LOVING OUR NEW HOUSE! I am working on getting my butt back in gear because there is SO much work to be done, and I have SO much...

A Tour of our First House…while it’s still our house!

We are moving in 2 DAYS. TWO!!! I can’t believe it! The moving truck is in our driveway, and a few of our awesome friends and family helped us get it filled to the brim over the weekend. We hand over our keys on Thursday and we won’t be getting the keys to our new place until Thursday as well, which means that until then we will be living with a section of our sectional, a tv, and some mattresses on the floor. What more could you want? I won’t even ask who packed the folding card table that was...
